The MB1038B Thicknesser, from SMI
Table has solid cast iron extensions (not flimsy outrigger rollers)
Two adjustable rollers in the table prevent hesitation in the feed and marking of the work - less sanding!
A full 200mm working height - many ‘look-alike’ machines stop at 150mm
Jacks supply digital display of height setting as standard - no more trial and error test pieces. Perfect for jobbing work
Table adjustment by four heavy square threaded shafts running inside precision ground 48mm steel columns.
Two speed gearbox with automatic chain tensioner. High speed for gauging, slow speed for fine finishing
4" dust port angled to side gives efficient chip removal and keeps ducting clear of the work return rollers
Internal wheel set is standard - you can move the machine around easily, but you won't trip when working
Thicknessing is the toughest task in most shops, and needs a strong machine. This one is built to last. Features >>

TWO adjustable, eccentrically mounted, table rollers are positioned directly below the driven infeed and outfeed rollers. Downward pressure from feed rollers is directed onto the table rollers, not the table! This minimises friction and hesitation in the feed especially when processing heavy, green or resinous timber. An even feed gives an even surface quality and less sanding. Machines without table rollers (or with just one) should be avoided.

View from outfeed side. From right to left: Strong steel anti kickback fingers to protect the operator. Spiral toothed infeed roller ensuring the grip is never relaxed. Spring loaded infeed pressure bar prevents bouncing and vibration. Smooth steel outfeed roller, for a flawless finish. No rubber or neoprene coating to get damaged and worn
